President’s Message
When my mother was diagnosed with dementia, we tried to find activities that she could enjoy. We soon discovered that going to Friday night services brought her great pleasure. At the time we belonged to another synagogue, but we soon realized that the trip to and from services was just too long so we decided to try Beth Shalom. We walked in and were greeted by everyone with hugs and kisses. They went out of their way to make my mother (and us) feel really special. Even in the fog of her dementia, Mom knew that she didn’t want to go anyplace else.
At the Oneg Shabbat afterwards, my husband asked a gentleman sitting at our table if he had family in the area. The man looked around and then with a gesture encompassing everyone in the room, he said “This is my family”. Many of the people have changed since then. The spiritual leadership has changed, but the feeling remains. This is our community, our spiritual life, our social life and our extended family.
I encourage you to visit us for Shabbat Services or join us for any of our educational or fun social activities. You will be glad you did. You can see our newsletter with dates and times of our services and activities on our web site under the newsletter tab or on the events calendar. You can always contact me at president@templebethshalomcc.
I look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful Temple.
Shalom,
